After scheduling your neck liposuction procedure, you will need to make certain preparations to ensure you are ready. Dr. Gutierrez will give you a set of instructions to help you. These instructions may vary in the details of your treatment plan, but you can expect him to direct you to:

  • Manage Certain Medications: Discontinue taking any medications or supplements that may thin your blood. These typically include substances like aspirin, ibuprofen, or vitamin E.
  • Arrange Transportation: You will need a trusted friend or family member to take you home after your procedure.

Procedure

When you arrive at your procedure, a member of our team will lead you to a private treatment room where you will meet with Dr. Gutierrez. He will reconfirm your desired enhancements with you before cleansing your skin. You will then receive local anesthesia with or without sedation, depending on the extent of your procedure.

Dr. Gutierrez will place a small incision near the treatment area to access your targeted fat deposits. He will inject the fat with a tumescent fluid containing lidocaine, epinephrine, and saline. This solution will further numb your tissues, minimize bleeding, and firm your fat cells, making them easier to remove. (2) Dr. Gutierrez will then insert a small, hollow tube called a cannula through your incision. He will move it back and forth to break down each deposit before using it to suction out the emulsified fat from your body.

After Dr. Gutierrez has performed each of your desired corrections, he will close each incision using sutures. Our team will then transport you to our recovery suite to rest until you are ready to return home.

Recovery

These effects are temporary and will subside on their own with time, but you may also manage them using a cold compress, prescribed medications, and plenty of rest. You may return to most of your daily activities after resting for approximately one to two weeks.
