About Dr. Manuel Gutierrez

Dr. Manuel Gutierrez comes from a family of doctors. His father was a professor at the UABC medical school for 25 years in the area of infectious disease. His mother is a M.D. in the area of family practice. The passion for medicine and patient care runs in the family, and because of this, Dr. Gutierrez enrolled himself in medical school at the age of 18. At this time, he told himself – “Someday I will be a plastic and reconstructive surgeon.”

Dr. Gutierrez completed 6 years and received his medical degree in Tijuana, Mexico. He then moved to Mexico City to continue with his general surgeon degree for 3 years in Centro medico “la Raza,” and then plastic surgery in “General Hospital” for 3 additional years. After he became a board certified plastic surgeon, he moved back to Tijuana, Mexico in May 1998. At that time, he opened his practice and has been in the same location ever since.

In his addition to his love for medicine, Dr. Gutierrez has a passion for art and adventure. He has been a certified diver for over 20 years and has dived everywhere from Mexico, Australia, French Polynesia, and the Caribbean to Zanzibar, Galapagos, and The Red Sea.

Dr. Gutierrez is also a nature lover and an explorer. He has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro (the largest mountain in Africa), explored temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, and tracked the gorillas in Uganda. He has also gone on animal safaris in Kenya , Tanzania, Botswana, and South Africa and explored the Amazon River in Brazil and Peru - as well as white water rafting Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River.

Dr. Gutierrez’s current hobbies include kite surfing, fishing, diving and tennis; and his current passions are for art and museums.
